RATEL awards individual licenses for three digital terrestrial television multiplexes to ETV
Following a public bidding procedure, on October 14, 2026, RATEL awarded individual licenses to the business entity "Emisiona tehnika i veze" (ETV) LLC Belgrade. These licenses authorize the use of the radio frequency spectrum within the 470–694 MHz band across the territory of the Republic of Serbia for three digital terrestrial television multiplexes: MUX1, MUX2, and MUX5.
RATEL’s Director Dragan Pejović, in the presence of the Chair of the Council and other associates, formally presented the decisions on the issuance of individual licenses to representatives of ETV. The issuance of these individual licenses ensures the continued use of the radio frequency spectrum for digital terrestrial television over the next ten years. It also provides a stable regulatory framework for the further development of this platform, ensuring the availability of television services to users throughout the Republic of Serbia. Director Pejović particularly emphasized that the creation of regulatory and technical prerequisites for the efficient use of the radio frequency spectrum would not be fully meaningful without the expertise, dedication and ongoing commitment of ETV in carrying out activities of public interest.
The development of digital terrestrial television in Serbia represents a significant process within the field of electronic communications. Since the beginning of the transition from analog to digital television broadcasting, RATEL has participated in establishing the necessary regulatory and technical prerequisites, including international coordination and the planning of radio frequencies within the 470–694 MHz band. The shift to digital broadcasting has enabled more efficient use of the radio frequency spectrum, improved the quality of TV signals and created conditions for the further development of electronic communication services.
