RATEL hosting CERP meetings

In the period March 20 – 22, RATEL is hosting meetings of the Policy and UPU WGs of the European Committee for Postal Regulation (CERP).

Meeting topics include new UPU membership fee system, cross-border costs of member countries, new WIK study on e-commerce and related postal items, with additional discussion regarding the Postal Directive, ERGP report on postal sector development and postal regulation.

The common CERP platform regarding the announced decision of the USA to leave the UPU will also be discussed at the meetings.

Addressing to the 60 participants from 25 European countries, dr Vladica Tintor, director of RATEL said: „This is the most numerous meeting of a CERP WG in history, which is not surprising taking into account the pivotal moment of crucial challenges for the global postal sector. Let us hope that today's dicsussion on the major topic of future role of the Universal Postal Union will be efficient and successful, with conclusions that will positively influence the forthcoming activities within the UPU.“

Representatives of the UPU, European Commission, PostEurop, Nordic Postal Union and the USA will attend the WG meetings as observers.
