55th CERP Plenary meeting resumes

13.11.2020

The 55th CERP (European Commitee for Postal Regulation) online Plenary was attended by 80 participants from 36 member countries and representatives from 5 observer countries or organizations, namely Argentina, Japan, United States, the European Commission (EC) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU).

The meeting was themed around the election of the CERP management for the next three years, a post-COVID19 UPU and opening of this organization to other postal market participants.

It was decided that the Chair for another term would remain Germán Vázquez, representing the Government of Spain, while dr Nikola Trubint from the Republic of Serbia was reelected as Vice Chair. The CERP management members also include Jasa Rasulioiene from Lithuania and Farid Tammimount from France.

An overwhelming impression from the meeting is that the current health crisis has united all postal industry players in a joint conclusion about the public interest being as important as the economy, while international organizations should play a key role in an effort to positively impact and benefit both the health and the development of postal markets.
