The 29th Telecommunications Forum was held, like the previous year, in an online format and started, instead with an opening speech, by paying respects to professor Dr Đorđe Paunović, one of the founders of this gathering, who recently passed away.

Dragan Pejović, director of RATEL, said among other in his opening word, that the total income earned in the electronic communications market in 2020 amounts to around 212.3 billion dinars, which is by 2.7% more than the previous year, accounting for 3.9% of the Serbian GDP. The biggest share in the total income is generated through the provision of mobile telephony services and accounts for 59% of the total revenues. The total investments in the electronic communications sector during 2020 were 48.3 billion dinars, out of which the largest share goes to those in the media content distribution, amounting to more than 21 billion dinars and accounting for 44.8% of the total investments in 2020, coupled with the investments in mobile telephony, with an amount of 12.5 billion dinars, making up approximately 25.8% of the total investments in 2020. He also added that RATEL, having quickly adapted to the new circumstances, continued to participate in the international organizations’ meetings, making effort to actively contribute to the work of all relevant regional, European and global forums.

The two-day forum will cover the following areas of interest: policy, regulatory aspects and services in communications, telecommunications networks, radio communications, mobile and wireless networks, communications systems, signal processing, applied electronics, applied electromagnetics, multimedia, optical communications, software tools and applications and student section.

RATEL’s representatives will take part in Telfor with presentations about the system for continuous measurement of electromagnetic fields, radio frequency spectrum monitoring and interactive portal for the mobile operators’ network  coverage.
